For what it's worth, I spent some time trying to get konsole and
gnome-terminal to work under cygwin to my satisfaction and ultimately found
a tabbed terminal emulator called Terminator (
http://software.jessies.org/terminator/) that gave me exactly what I
needed. I encourage you to see if it addresses your needs before spending
too much time trying to get KDE or GNOME working under Cygwin. Even when I
got them working, they were VERY slow and unstable at best whereas
Terminator is VERY fast.
