Somehow I missed the fact that not only can 1.5 and 1.7 now be installed in parallel, but they can actually be *run* in parallel as well. Right now I have a bare-bones 1.7 up and running, and I'm getting cygport trunk ready for the rebuild. I hope that gcc-4.3 will soon be available, at which time I intend to branch the ports tree in SVN and focus on rebuilding for 1.7. As for the package repo, it will likely stay 1.5, and with minimal changes, at least until I can get the bulk of the packages rebuilt.
