That might have been the case at first but I've been following the
instructions very carefully for at least the past 2 weeks.  You never
replied to my question about step 6 though (is it a "one time" command or do
I have to type this every time I perform an update?)  I've been typing it in
every time.

Thanks Dave.  The only problem with that is that things can get selected
without your knowledge.  So you need to check every single item every time
you want to install even just one package.  Or is this what Yaakov meant
above?  Does the long shell command (step 6 on the homepage) somehow
stop the 'automatic selection' process?  I did recently do two installations
in rapid succession (5 mins apart) and didn't re-type it in between
them - but that's the only time recently when I omitted a step.
