I've now managed to run cygserver-config and I launched cygserver using
this command:-

cygrunsrv -S cygserver

I'd already set up the CYGWIN=server env variable so I was now quite
hopeful. I ran X11 and started qjackctl. Unfortunately, qjackctl still
refused to connect to jack, giving me the same error:-

" Could not connect to JACK server as client. - Overall operation failed. -
Unable to connect to server "

My next step is to try rebaseall. I've re-booted Windows, then
Start->Run->c:\cygwin\bin\ash.exe In the ash terminal I type
"/bin/rebaseall" which gives me this error:-

rebaseall: only ash processes are allowed during rebasing
Exit all Cygwin processes and stop all Cygwin services.
Execute ash from Start/Run... or a cmd or command window.
    Execute '/bin/rebaseall' from ash.

AFAICT this is just telling me to do what I've already done. I don't have
any cygwin services set to run automatically so what could be stopping
rebaseall from working?

John
