I had a similar problem with XDMCP to a Solaris box.  My fix was to replace
the rgb.txt file.  The one I found worked best is 17,371 bytes in size.  If
yours is not this size email me and I'll send you mine.

What color depth are you running Windows at?

Right-click on your Windows desktop, choose Properties, then Settings, then
report the value in the Colors box.
