Anyone interested in this topic should read Peter Huber's book "Orwells
Revenge". Unfortunately, his site seems to have been dropped down the
memory hole. :) Fortunately, I have the PDF of the book he posted to his
site. Unfortunately, it's 700+k and I'm not sending it to a mailing list --
I like my life. If anyone wants to volunteer to host it, I will send it to
them. Since Huber posted it free for download, I can't imagine he'd object
to it being distributed more widely -- at least not if he believes what he
wrote in it. (Think of the estate of Abby Hoffman suing over someone
posting a scan of 'Steal This Book!')
