His consciousness and walking frame were reanimated from models trained on recordings of his life. These "models" were actual human models, male and female, who had been kidnapped and mind controlled to use to seduce clients. Their brains were double-purposed as part of his research program. Each vivisectee responsible for part of Boss's body and mind was struggling to continue his life after his body had just been vaporised by a precise missile strike.
