youtry to follow it and see it opening a large shape and darting through. the large shape closes behind it, and when you travel into it you stop traveling. another hilighted doodad is next to it, hilighted orange. the orange pulses when you bump against the obstruction.
as you travel, the view slolwly changes in three dimensions, like an overhead camera beginning to tipt down to 3/4s view. the shapes become a little more organic and some grow a little like wireframe trees.
