I'll take that next week. I'm going to give my thesis dissertation tomorrow. The new cython-based implementations of mpi4py and petsc4py were done from scratch in the middle of writting my thesis and preparing its presentation. Moreover, at the same time, I started to use Cython for the first time. I comment this just for the pourpose of Cython advocacy. If you have some experience and know what you need and want you want to do, Cython is a very serious alternative for wrapping and generating full-featured, pythonic API's .
