Dear Friends, Many of you will remember Sylvia de Swaan, a very active member of our group several years ago, who was born in Czernowitz in 1941. I’m very sad to let you know of Sylvia's passing in early December, 2023. Despite the loss of her father and other family members during the war, she survived along with her mother and sister, and went on to live a wonderful life as an artist in New York City, Mexico City, New Orleans, and finally upstate New York since 1975. Several years ago, she traveled back to Bukovina with our wonderful chronicler and photographer, Christian Herrmann.
