Yes, it's normal. You need the compiled binary to run the application. The 
binary is shipped in the distribution download, so “normal” users who got D2RQ 
by downloading it from the website will always have it. Only developers/testers 
who got it by checking out the source from GitHub will need to run the build 
script to make the application work. This is also described in the README 
section of https://github.com/d2rq/d2rq . We assume that people who check out 
the source code know what they are doing ;-)

Well, it's quite normal to keep the build process separate from the actual 
running of an application. Again, “normal” users never need to build from 
source because the compiled binary is included in the download.
