Of course you could add a VM with windows 2003 server and SQL 2000 - that would work. That's what I do at my office. Not to sure about opening MSSQL to the internet. The last time I did that it was attacked. Of course we could change the port from the standard port. But I think the hackers will still find it. Someone better than myself would have to set it up because even with a sonicwall and a router I could not protect it for long.
