It doesn't throw an error, but it doesn't work, either. No check
appears, and the Hit binding doesn't do anything.

It's odd that if I work directly at the wx level, I can get check
boxes, but at the Dabo level I don't. My guess is that something in
the three-way init process isn't correct, at least on Gtk.
I'll look into it some more.
