Well, after spending a good part of the day on this, I tracked it
down to the default setting of the Icon property to "" for dMenuItem.
Apparently on Windows and Gtk, the underlying call to SetBitmap
(wx.EmptyBitmap) was enough to mess up the way the menu items worked.
I've fixed that problem now.
Please try with the latest in svn or Trac. If it works for you, too,
I'll approve it for Web Update.
