        The tools, being independent apps, are updated individually. Since  
the framework is a module in Python, we can use __file__ to locate it.  
But these apps can live anywhere; the only way to determine their  
location is when they are run. If they can't be run, they can't be  
updated.

        That removes anything automatic about the process, which defeats the  
purpose.

        The solution is never to create an official release with unrunnable
