Yes, there's a welcome email sent to all new list users. It is just a file at 
the 
mailman level...

Yes mistakes should be forgiven, but everyone should be aware of "the rules".

Nah we have to deal with top-posting, it's a fact of life. Top posting can work 
for 
very short conversations, but unfortunately one of us veterans will have to 
unjumble 
any replies, which we have to do anyway.
