My thought is that it isn't necessary for 99% of the items given.  Even if you 
are updating a clock on the display, the update should come by comparing a 
start time to the current system time.  The only use case that it's critical 
for in my opinion is when you need to perform something at an absolutely 
certain time.  However, if you are doing that and looking for millisecond 
precision, I would argue that you need to use something lower level to 
guarantee precision.

Between the threading standard library and callAfterInterval, I don't think 
that it is necessary anymore.
