Ah! When I tried to reach it from the dabo home page I got:
Dabo Wiki
We are sorry, we are working out some technical issues, and the
Wiki is
currently not available.
But that link points to:
http://paul.dabodev.com/wiki/
Sounds like it has not been updated.
'paul.dabodev.com' is a test site that Paul put together to test
things on his server, such as the Dabo Book (http://paul.dabodev.com/
doc/book/), which he works on intermittently, and the API
documentation that is updated nightly (http://paul.dabodev.com/doc/
api/).
Except for those things, just use http://dabodev.com.
I was going to try to get into using the GUI part and get familiar
with it.
The intention is to develop a SQL app and I want to see how dabo
can save me
time. It sounds good but I've not seen it operate yet.
It's a typical business app with data entry, searches and reports.
Are you familiar with wxPython? Or its use of sizers to lay out
UI forms? If not, that would be a good place to start. You can look
at some of the demo programs to see the use of sizers.
If it's a relatively simple app to start off with, you might
want to start by running the AppWizard, located in the ide/wizards
directory. This will prompt you for the information it needs, such as
connection specs, and create an app that uses our datanav library to
provide you with data-driven forms whose controls and layout is
created on the fly from a customizable XML file. It's a good way to
"get your feet wet".
I hope that this gives you enough information to at least ask
another question! ;-)
