I have been using VMWare WS for a few years and I read this web-site to
see how it they set up the free version.
It looks great except there is no mention of loading VMWare tools after
installing an OS in the virtual machine. Without VMWare tools installed
the virtual machine will still work but it will run slowly and may not
support many video modes.
Your virtual machines will work, but don't judge performance based on an
install without VMWare tools in place.
