single user app: sqlite is probably easiest to deploy and contend with.

multi-user app: postgresql is probably more difficult to deploy, because
they strive for security out of the box, rather than ease of deployment.
But then, I haven't explored creating a custom installer for it either,
which might simplify that aspect.

I've never liked the MySQL licensing structure. Since Oracle bought
them out, I fear it like the pleague. Funny, I used to make a real nice
wadge as an oracle consultant... LOL ? Oracle is a nifty database, but
overpriced and overly complicated, don't know if it's calmed down any
over the past few years. But Blah.

Firebird has probably gotten a lot better since it's been open sourced.
Ingres was horrid IMO, which probably explains why it's been opensourced
in the first/last place. I've installed firebird once and it left a bad
taste in my mouth, thus I uninstalled it, but it's been a few years for
that one too.

I've worked a little with Sybase SQL anywhere. It looks to me like an
RDB written in java. Since I've neglected to look at MSSSql and
understand it's based on Sybase original sources, is it java based much
like sqlanywhere? Just curious...
