        Oracle did not buy MySQL. They bought a company that created *one*  
of the storage engines (InnoDB) for MySQL. Thanks to the architecture  
built into the product, and the fact that the InnoDB engine is open  
source, they've forked the source code into a separate project, and  
can replace InnoDB with this new version.
