Maybe I'm just too damn dumb to dabo?

downloaded wxpything 2.8.3 unicode
have python 2.5
downloaded the latest zips from the download page

Unzipped, ran python setup.py install
NO error messages this time!

Cd \dabo\daboide
start classDesigner.py
started up.
blazed through the working with data environment demo, which I now know
by heart
got to the part about adding controls from the data environment.
Selected Sample connection, since I know it's the same as the demo - hit
next.
"Unable to connect." WTF?
Created new connection, just as in the screencast.
"Unable to connect."
Tried creating a postgresql connection on localhost, using connection
settings I verified worked.
"Unable to connect."

Swore, fired up tortoise SVN and downloaded everything to \dabosvn, ran
compile.
Clearly worked, and clearly different as a few odd extra screens and
much slower
etc, etc..... "unable to connect."

I'm now downloading python 2.5.1, wxpython 2.8.3, and the dabo win.zip
files onto the XP Laptop a client lent me, as that machine is only 2
years old instead of my ancient 1999 dell.

Is my computer a pos? Am I cursed? Am I stupid? I am frustrated,
again. (although, not so much that I'm going to stay up until 2:30 THIS
time!)
Ah! The download on the laptop is complete. Later.
