Several projets (Taskcoach, Dabo, ...) on this list reported it was hard to package their programs for Ubuntu/Debian. Therefore I proposed a special tutorial session for packaging python programs in the Ubuntu Open week. Fortunately Emilio Pozuelo Monfort volunteered to host this session. The temporary schedule can be found here (still under construction): https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOpenWeek/Prep You just need an IRC client to attend the session More information about Ubuntu Open week here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOpenWeek In the session it will be probably shown how to package a "hello world" python program with a dependency (e.g. pil, wxpython, pygtk are dependencies) and a data file (such as an image/icon). After that it should be trivial to get started packaging your own projects. I will also attend the session and probably assist with wxpython (= python-wxgtk) related issues. If you use Windows but would like to see your project in Ubuntu, you work with Ubuntu in a virtual machine such as of vmware. If you have any issues or questions you want to see discussed during this session, you can discuss them in this thread and I'll report them to Emilio. I hope to see you at the session!
