When you do that action, the modal dialog calendar popup appears. When you 'tab' off of it, it disappears. Perhaps it wouldn't actually be modal, but it would only be visible when the date control has focus and the user did something to expand it. Or maybe there'd be a property to auto-expand it when the date control got focus. But my only point was in the implementation of the popup. I think it should be in a frame separate from the frame the date control resides in, instead of being squeezed in to that frame's design. Much like a popup menu.
