os.startfile() has been there on Windows for a long time. The 'verb' parameter 
has 
been there since 2.5.

I realize it isn't available for non-Windows (didn't realize it was become 
available 
in 2.7 though).

We catch AttributeError on Linux and Mac and instead do the Linux/Mac 
equivalent, so 
there shouldn't be a problem.
