Perhaps we could collect the 2.7 problems in the Wiki? My own
experiences so far:

My existing applications run as expected. They are partly hand-coded,
partly made with the class designer. This is true for Windows XP and for
Linux (Xubuntu 11.04, which comes with 2.7.1 as default Python).

The DaboDemo runs as expected.

I haven't yet tried it out, but if existing applications run, then I see
no reason why newly made hand-coded applications shouldn't.

If I start the ClassDesigner on Linux and try to open an existing class
it crashes. On Windows it starts normally. Sadly I don't remember which
of my two Python versions I used to create my last ClassDesigner-made
application on Windows (very small, no dGrid).

At the moment it looks to me as if only the visual tools are
problematic. Right or wrong?

I see two reasons to try to document and solve the remaining 2.7 bugs soon:

- If Ubuntu and Suse come with 2.7 as default Python, other
distributions will probably follow soon. And these are much-used
distributions anyway.

- On the Python website 2.6 is an "older version" and it says: "Consider
your needs carefully before using a version other than the current
production version."

And it can be seen in this list that quite a number of Dabo users are
starting with Python and Dabo more or less at the same time.

Will continue trying things out (Xubuntu 11.04 is very new, so I hadn't
much time for it to date).

Greetings,
Sibylle
