        Well, it makes me confident that you didn't do anything unusual to 
cause the problem. It must be something to do with a combination of the version 
of wxPython installed, Windows 7, and Dabo. Unfortunately I do not have have 
access to a Win7 machine or VM, so I can't test that combination.

        What version of wxPython are you running? From the python prompt, type:

import wx
print wx.VERSION_STRING
