Shabbos 071:SHE'ACHAL K'ZAYIS OOMECHETZA
Chazan Michael Plaskow asked:
HE ATE CHAILEV THE SIZE OF AN OLIVE AND A HALF. WAS THIS ONE PIECE (OF
WHICH HE REMEMBERED HE ATE AN OLIVE-SIZED PORTION) OR WAS THERE TWO PIECES
NAMELY AN OLIVE-SIZED PIECE AND ANOTHER SEPARATE HALF PIECE?
Chazan Michael Plaskow, Netanya, Israel
----------------------------------------------
The Kollel replies:
What is important is that the K'zayis and the half k'Zayis were eaten in
one Ha'alamah (without realizing in between that he had sinned). It makes
no difference whether they were one piece or two pieces, or even whether he
ate them within the time limit of a K'dei Achilas P'ras or not. The fact is
that half a Shi'ur is not Chashuv and does not therefore require a
Yedi'ah. This enables it to combine with the k'Zayis when he remembered
having eaten it, and this in turn, prevented it from combining with the
second half-k'Zayis and obligating him to bring a second Korban.
Kol Tuv
Eliezer Chrysler.
