One has to love this job! Such consideration for the maintainer. I mean that,

Nope, that will only kick in on C<make _test> which comes after "test_prep" 
(the one giving you the 't' in the matrix).

Yup, let's see. Perhaps running with "-v 2" reveals more in the logfile?

PS: The Smoker.pm and the Reporter.pm have changed, so an update from your 
side would be appreciated (to avoid haunting ghost-bugs).
