Well, thanks for providing a useful piece of software and for
listening to your users.

After thinking about it for a while, it suddenly occurred to me that
Merijn might not have applied the fix for this problem into 'maint'
yet.  I was comparing T::S output for 'maint' to results of manual
compiles on 'blead', assuming hints/aix.sh was in sync.  This
appears not to be the case, which explains why threaded builds on
aix5 still fail for maint.

The smoke report ''Smoke [5.9.1] 22410 FAIL(Fm) AIX 5.2.0.0/ML02/64
(PPC/64/2 cpu)'' proves that Merijn's fix indeed solved the
op/pwent failure that has been spoiling the builds for so long.
