A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

Today's Gospel is the parable of the Sower. In it, the Lord presents
to us the conditions that are essential for the Word of God to grow
in us, take root and produce fruitful results. They are, namely: that
we listen to the Word of God and take it to heart.

In light of what Jesus, said we must first reflect on how well we
listen, identify the things that impede us from hearing, and make our
best effort too create a milieu where the Word of God can find its
way into our lives.

Secondly, Jesus says that we must take the Word of God to heart.
Simply speaking, that means we must embrace it, accept it, believe
and act upon it. This step, like the first, requires that we ferret
out the forces that prevent us from wholeheartedly assimilating God's
Word into our lives.

In all of this we begin to recognize that being fertile and fruitful
instruments of the Lord requires not only our effort, but God's
freely offered grace. Let us then take the time, and provide the
space for the Word of God to penetrate through our noisy lives, and
then with child-like simplicity and love, let us beg the Father to
recreate in us His Beauty, His Truth, His Goodness.
