A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

"For the measure you measure, will be measured back to you."

In this passage Jesus enunciates one of the most promising, powerful
spiritual laws that the Bible speaks about. As with the laws of
physics, but even more so, these laws are inviolable. That is, they
are not promises or vain entreaties -- they are the truth about how
the spiritual world operates.

If you treat others with compassion -- compassion will come back to
you. How often have we seen the inverse shown to us? People who are
callous and cruel are not much missed in the world. There weren't a
lot of people who mourned for the death of Adolf Hitler. Certainly,
there may have been a few, but those few were the ones to whom he
showed compassion and kindness (difficult though that may be to
imagine.)

But read this passage slowly, carefully, listen to what Jesus speaks
and respond to it. Open yourself up to the blessing of Lent. This
blessing will completely transform every aspect of your life if you
will allow it to do so. Accept the pardon, accept the measure that
will be given. Accept Jesus Himself -- the true measure poured out
for all.
