A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

How often life seems unfair. We are misunderstood, things happen to
us that we don't apparently deserve and on and on. Those who are (and
especially those who are not) striving to live a life of holiness are
greatly challenged by these injustices.

I recall some of the most hurtful experiences of my life involved
misunderstandings. I thought I had gone to extraordinary lengths to
provide information and explanation, only to be misunderstood all the
more. You know the axiom: "Me thinks the lady protests too much."

What wonderful encouragement today's First Reading and Responsorial
Psalm give us! Don't worry, they say, God alone is the only just
judge, the only refuge we have or need. He alone will vindicate the
just and save the upright of heart.

And finally and most importantly our whole lenten journey with Christ
provides us the perfect opportunity to imitate Jesus - the perfect
sinless Lamb of God. Who could have been more misunderstood, wrongly
judged, unfairly treated? He as the Scriptures say was led like a
lamb to the slaughter, without so much as lifting his voice in
protest.

Dearest Jesus, let your Spirit live in me so that, like You, I may
bear the injustices of this world with the same love and patient
endurance that You did. Let your loving example be always before me
so that like St. Paul I may say, "I have been crucified with Christ,
and the life I live is now not my own; Christ is living in me." (see
Galatians 2:19:20)
