**** Have You Forgotten Some of the Particulars of Lenten Regulations? **** Refresh your memory today at Tuesday's edition of Join My Journey **** http://homepage.mac.com/ojoachim The Catholic Calendar for Tuesday, April 10, 2001 Tuesday of Holy Week Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word: Isaiah 49:1-6 Psalm 71:1-6,15,17 John 13:21-33,36-38 Full text: http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/index.htm A Reflection on Today's Scripture: When we ask how Judas could ever have betrayed his Lord, we will know the answer when we have explained how you and I could ever betray Jesus. We'll understand the mystery of evil as it subtlety sneaks into our best intentions, corrupting that loving relationship we have with Jesus we thought so strong and impregnable. As Judas' betrayal wrenched the heart of Jesus, sapping His energy and spoiling His joy, so too do our betrayals slap Jesus in the face, over and over again. Our very resolutions mock the ears of the One whose gentle voice so often has soothed our ears with "Be not afraid" and "Come to me...". We will never fully probe the hurt of that incident at the Last Supper which, like a dull ache, must still vibrate in Jesus' memory. And we are all Judases, every one. The mystery is that Jesus has forgiven, and Jesus still loves. In this love is God's glory -- the glory of being a servant-lover, a foolish lover, an unrequited lover. In His glory is our humiliation, our reason to sink to the ground with words of repentant love, energetic resolve, and a new attempt at fidelity to our Tremendous Lover. - Msgr.
