A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

"Say, they stole the body . . ."

Satan's plan, so certain, so clear, so simple unravels before him.
The plan of the leaders of the temple falls apart. They did not
succeed in their venture because something strange happened.

Imagine, how would you feel if suddenly the person you wanted out of
the way, was missing? No matter what the explanation, there would be
terror. If the body was stolen, still it is missing, and it is a
powerful sign. If something else . . . You can't even complete the
thought.

This was both a moment of high terror and a moment when the Holy
Spirit could take a foothold. Yes, hurriedly we hide what we have
done. Quickly we bury the evidence. We put everything right and now
we can take comfort in this security.

When we have a moment to consider, the Holy Spirit is there to
convict us. So it is with all of us. Even if we have assisted in His
execution, even if we attempt to hide the Good He did for us, still
in the silence of the evening, the Holy Spirit steals upon us and...
repentance-- glorious repentance.

We too can rise again, no matter how depraved and dragged down, we
can rise with the Risen Christ. We are pulled from the muck and
sludge of sin to join with Christ in His victory. This is the week we
celebrate it, this is the day for rejoicing. Hallelujah!
