A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
Our readings today remind us that our lives are about balance --
keeping the balance between the flesh and the spirit within us. As
stated in 2 Corinthians 4-7..."we have this treasure in earthen
vessels that the excellency may be of the power of God and not of
us".
Sometimes as humans we have the tendency to take full credit for a
successful accomplishment, as though we did it all. Our sense of
pride is strong because of original sin. However, when we are
struggling or fail, many of us turn to God for strength and
assistance, acknowledging our weaknesses.
The challenge then is to find a balance -- and to at least start and
end each day with the acknowledgement that we are not our own. We
need God in good times as well as in those times when we struggle! In
this way we are inviting God to work through us. This is our most
perfect use of the precious gift of free will!
Not my will, O Lord,
but may thine be done.
Amen.
