A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

In today's First Reading we hear Paul say that God can multiply His
favors among us so that we might have enough of everything. At fist
glance, these are words, many of us would say, we believe. It's when
we are challenged to put what we believe into action that the true
test of what we say really begins.

In truth we're utterly unable to do anything so radical like believe
unless God's grace, His own divine life, abides in us. Our broken
human nature has been so marred by sin that even good intentions must
originate not in ourselves, but in God.

Let us then acknowledge our true poverty and recognize that anything
and everything that we have that is good, comes from God and can be
used for good only if we cooperate with God's grace. God's grace, His
own divine life in us, is what actuates our human potential and
overcomes the effect of sin. May we then seek opportunities for
grace, a super abundance of grace that we might become more than we
are, have more than we seem to possess, give more than we have.
