A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
The Kingdom of Heaven is Like a Mustard Seed.
You didn't hear it from me; in fact, you heard it straight from
Jesus. But the Kingdom of Heaven is insidious. Yes! You put a little
bit of it in your life, and soon you find it has taken over.
That's what Jesus has to tell us today -- a little bit of attention
to the Kingdom and you'll find that the smallest seed has grown into
the largest tree. You'll find a bit of yeast will leaven a mound of
flour. It doesn't take much -- a daily mass, a morning prayer, an
afternoon devotion, a few words before a meal.
Any time we direct our attention to "the one thing needful" we plant
that mustard seed. We need only nurture it with a bit of loving care
and we'll find that it is far larger than we ever thought.
The kingdom of Heaven is powerful -- a little bit will fill your
whole life and carry you away to the place of God's presence.
