A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

In today's psalm we are reminded of the mighty and gracious blessings
God has bestowed upon the earth and us. Each one of us who awakens
today has received many blessings, life itself being most precious.
aThen there are many others, that aid our journey toward our heavenly
home.

Have you ever looked back on some trial that you may have had in life
and wonder how you ever made it through? When things are getting
better it is all too easy to forget who carried us through the
difficult times. We must always thank and praise God in times of need
and also in times of plenty.

In today's Gospel, John the Baptist lost his physical life for the
sake of the message of repentance. Even though he died this did not
end the Herod's struggle with good vs evil. The true message of the
Gospel goes beyond the mere words. It reaches the very core of our
being. We hope and pray that we too can proclaim Jesus' message with
love and charity in this ever changing and beautiful world God has
given us to enjoy. Whether we lose our friends or earthly our life,
God will be glorified. And we too will stand with The Baptist, giving
the Most High, all our praise and adoration. Amen!

Thank you Jesus for loving us!
