A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
What would we see, if we really, totally, believed?
Once, while talking to a friend some time ago about the different
parts of the liturgy, he shared a true experience that he had. It was
something I wondered about from time to time, but in my own
un-belief, never gave much credit to these thoughts. But now that has
all changed.
He and his nephew were at Sunday Mass a few years back, and as it is
with some younger children, his nephew was asking a lot of questions
about what was going on. In a natural Catholic sense, his uncle, in a
gentle way, was telling him to be quiet as people are praying. Then
during the consecration the boy persisted in asking yet another
question, which changed his uncle to this day. Nudging his uncle, the
boy asked: "Who are the two people dressed in white, standing next to
the priest?" His uncle didn't know how to respond, and knelt in awe.
Today with all that is happening, one would wonder if our basic
belief in our faith has gone off course. I believe God is calling
each of us to re-evaluate just what we believe in. Our heavenly
Father has given all of us all so much to be thankful for!
