A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

This description of the beautiful gift from God with such an
all-encompassing list of adjectives, compels one to think of God
himself: of the divine wisdom. The Psalmist proclaims that the word
of God endures forever, is as firm as the heavens.

St. Luke assures us that the Kingdom of God is among us. It is here,
right now! We do not have to wait to experience the kingdom, for it
is right before our very eyes! The poor beggar with his hand
outstretched -- could this be Jesus? Could He be a young homeless
mother carrying her child on line at the soup kitchen? Or the drug
addict or alcohol addicted person? Could they be part of the Kingdom
that is here?

Sometimes, as the old saying goes, we can't see the forest for the
trees. Jesus comes to us in many ways, many disguises. He comes not
only in word and sacrament, but also in all who cross our paths every
day. The big question is: Do we make the effort to recognize Him in
our midst?

          O Holy Spirit,
Open our eyes and ears to the Cry of the poor. Amen!
