A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
Luke, the evangelist and companion of Paul, proclaimed the good news
through his gospel. The work of the chosen people of God continues.
We already know that it is easier to be receptive to other people if
we are kind in our approach. Luke tells us to greet them with a
peaceful blessing. In his instructions to the seventy disciples,
Jesus provided specific guidelines on how they were to conduct their
mission. These guidelines apply to us as well. If we proclaim the
peace of Christ we are also infecting others with his love. If we
love one another, then we are accomplishing part of that mission.
Just what is "Mission"? Honoring and praising God; thanking him for
all he has given to us; teaching our children about Jesus Christ;
praying for others; writing to government officials to overturn any
laws that are contrary to God's plan; bearing witness to whoever we
converse with; any deed that is performed with love in our hearts,
joy in our minds and help with our hands. That is "Mission"! We must
be aware of Jesus' power, love and desires for all his chosen people.
Once aware, we, inspired by the Holy Spirit, will be guided how to
conduct our own personal mission.
O Lord,
guide us along the right path
to accomplish our personal mission!
Amen!
