A Reflection from Holy Scripture . . .
Healing.
Too often we need to throw off the cloak of our past ways of life. We
need new life to enable us to respond to Jesus' call to follow him in
faith. The words of the song from "Jesus Christ Superstar", "to see
thee more clearly, love thee more dearly, follow thee more nearly,
day by day" could be the theme for our personal renewal during our
Advent wait.
This miracle happened to the blind men because Jesus recognized that
the two men knew who He was and what He had accomplished. The blind
receive their sight; the lame walk; lepers are cleansed; the deaf
hear and the dead are raised up. Their belief and their faith allowed
Jesus to cure them of their blindness. We too, because we're
baptized, must ask Jesus for help in our daily conversion, as we
await the joy of Christmas during this special time of Advent in our
Liturgical Year.
Today, people are remembering those terrible days of 60 years ago
when Pearl Harbor was attacked, trying to understand why people
cannot live in peace. Very recently the terrorist horrors at the
World Trade Center and the Pentagon have left us asking, Why? It is
only our faith in Christ and our belief in His promises that will
allow us to wait in joy-filled hope for the coming of our Lord and
Savior, Jesus the Christ.
The Lord is my light and my salvation. (Ps.27)
