A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

Yes, The Days Are Coming.....

Jeremiah, often called "the weeping prophet", was given a moment of
splendid delight, a revelation from God that did not portend doom and
destruction for a faithless people. Instead it was a glimpse of the
splendor of heaven come down to Earth.

God has promised a righteous ruler from the line of David. This son
of David will come to us again on Christmas day as He has done every
Christmas, and indeed every day we turn our attention to Him. We look
ahead and the clouds seem to be clearing. Christmas is just around
the corner. The children are anxiously anticipating their gifts, and
perhaps as adults we catch some of that fervor. If so, what are we
eager for?

Perhaps we are eager for the special grace that St. Therese received
on a Christmas in 1885; she called it "The Grace of Complete
Conversion." Wouldn't that be a wonderful Christmas gift, the ability
to love God as much as He desires and deserves to be loved? Let us
start by loving a child, a son of David, a king of righteousness and
great kindness who first came to us more than 2,000 years ago, and
now graces every year of our lives.
