A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
The expression: "I love it when a plan comes together!" is a perfect
commentary on today's readings from Holy Scripture. The intricate
plan of God for our salvation woven throughout history is about to be
revealed in the person of Jesus. Leading up to this wondrous event we
have indications, signs of God's plan: "A virgin shall conceive and
bear a son."
How often does the Word of God fall on our deaf and unbelieving ears?
How often do we fail to believe that all God promised for us will be
fulfilled? God does not utter meaningless words, make idle threats or
lead us, so to speak, on a wild goose chase.
Instead, He wishes to groom us and prepare us, so that when the
moment of revelation in our lives occurs, we will recognize it. God
comes to us through His Word and Sacraments, offering us the
opportunity to let Jesus become flesh in us. Like Mary, may we echo
the "Fiat" that set off the chain reaction toward our salvation, "Let
it be done unto me according to your word."
Truly then will the Lord of glory be conceived in us and the wondrous
plan of God, come together.
O Come Key of David,
opening the gates of God's eternal Kingdom:
free the prisoners of darkness.
