Title: Meditation: Saturday, February 9, 2002
The Catholic Calendar for Saturday, February 9, 2002
The Fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
1 Kings 3:4-13
Psalm 119:9-14
Mark 6:30-34
A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
In today's gospel, Jesus pities those who had come in crowds to hear
Him preach. They are like 'sheep without a shepherd'. Today, we too
seek guidance and direction amid the confusion in our lives. In our
search however we tend to seek the insufficient quick fix to dilemmas
which many sources offer, without seeking the real truth and answer
to our search: Jesus.
Today's response says: 'Teach me your decrees O Lord'. In preparation
for this coming Lenten Season we have a great opportunity to renew
again our Christian calling and look to the life to which Jesus calls
us. While His Way may be the road less travelled and is a path not
prized by the world..let us understand that through His Way, we truly
can experience peace and fulfillment and rejoice in the beauty and
the gift of Life. What more can we desire?!
Blessed Mother, renew our hearts so that we may live the life to
which we are called. Grant us Hope and perseverance in our trials and
tribulations that we may triumph through our Lord Jesus Christ.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
