The Second Sunday of Lent

A Reflection on today's Scripture:
On this second Sunday of Lent, the Church continues to guide us on
our little six-week course about the faith. Today we learn about the
divine origin of our faith, of God's plan and firm resolve to lead
us, and all of fallen humanity, back to life.
First, our faith-journey in the Lord is traced back to Abram
(Abraham) and God's revelations to him in the Book of Genesis,
proving the authenticity of God's plan for us. Then St. Paul reminds
us in his letter to Timothy, that we're called to a life of holiness,
evidenced by the Father having sent Jesus to save us by His
obedience. In our third reading today, we learn about the
Transfiguration of Jesus. This was important because God wanted
Peter, James and John to be positively sure that all that was
happening to them was revealed to them by God as a sign of His
presence and guidance. Thus, there would be no doubt that Jesus was
the long-awaited messiah -- later to be called "the Christ."
Let us always remember that salvation has come to each of us
according to God's plan. We believe in the truthfulness of the Gospel
because it has been inspired by God. With this information, and
guided by God's grace, we confidently place ourselves in the saving
presence of Jesus. We joyfully look forward to growth in the life of
Christ every day, every moment of our lives. Amen.
