Title: Meditation: Wednesday, April 10, 2002
The Catholic Calendar for Wednesday, April 10, 2002
Second Week of Easter
Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
Acts 5:17-26
Psalm 34:2-9
John 3:16-21
A reflection on today's Scripture:
How incredible are the events narrated in today's first reading--Peter and John, so electrically charged with the Spirit, challenging the entire Sanhedrin, are thrust into prison, only to be miraculously liberated by the Angel of God--then are right back, preaching again to a delighted crowd whose sympathy protects them from the police. Here is superhuman faith in action. It seems nothing can withstand God's truth when spoken by courageous men, unafraid of the consequences.
Are we convinced that all the powers of hatred, violence and darkness will be overcome, if only we dare to take chances with the truth? Truth proclaimed with a brave love that attempts a response to the great mystery of God's love. "God so loved the world...".These days after Easter boldly stir us, and increase our faith, if we will only allow the Word can penetrate our hearts.
