A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

In today's Gospel Jesus tells us that He loves us as much as
God the Father has loved Him. If this is so, why then do we often feel
so unlovable?

The sad and terrible truth often lies in the reality that to the extent
we fail to reflect the Spirit of God dwelling in us, the loveliness we
possess seems to diminish and our lovableness appears to fade.

Perhaps we need this kind of barometer so that we might have a means to
evaluate the authenticity of our love as followers of Christ. For in
loving Him, we begin to imitate Him, be like Him.

With this in mind, may we be willing to examine our conscience and
behavior; to evaluate how we spend our time, talent and treasure; to
determine just how responsive we are to the needs and concerns of
others. Then with God's grace, let us do whatever it takes to reflect
the image of His Son. Certainly then we might be more genuinely lovable
and more genuinely be able to love.
