    Psalm 11:4-5,7
    John 21:20-25

A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

This Saturday's scripture brings us to the end of St. Luke's "Acts of
the Apostles" as well as the conclusion of the gospel according to
St. John. This is a great transition in the liturgical cycle of the
Church, one that helps us to remember the historic passage of Jesus,
His obedience, His death, resurrection and ascension into heaven; and
finally, the coming of the Paraclete.

Recall how disturbed the disciples were, to learn that Jesus would be
leaving them to ascend into heaven. They felt abandoned! But
according to the Divine Plan, Jesus had to leave them (see John 16:7)
so that the Holy Spirit would come upon them, the fledgling church,
and all those souls who changed their lives by accepting Jesus into
their hearts.

Today, we pray and meditate in great anticipation of Pentecost. This
was the time in history when God was about to send us the great mover
of our soul. Yes, it is He who fills us with strength and God's grace
to love with all our hearts, and to share that love with a world so
terribly darkened by sin.
